Hanningfield Sailability Project
The Club
Hanningfield Sailability Project is a club operated from the reservoir providing people with a disability the opportunity to go sailing on this delightful expanse of water in the heart of Essex.
The group has been operating since 2013 and anybody with a disability is welcome to come and have a try. The aim is to provide sailing for disabled people and encourage and teach those who wish to expand their knowledge of sailing for both leisure and competitive enjoyment.
The Boats
All boats are designed for disabled people and are uncapsizable, unsinkable, stable and easy to control.
The fleet consists of:
Hansa Access 303 1/2 person
Challenger Trimaran 1 person
RS Venture keel boat 2/3 person
Martin 16 keel boat 1/2 person
Weta Trimaran 1/2/3 person
Volunteers
A dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers make this project possible. They perform the shore and water based duties, man the safety boat and take the members sailing. New volunteers are needed and always welcome.
The club operates between April and August each Wednesday and Thursday between 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
